Profile

Proprietor Stewart Duffy served his apprenticeship with CWS, gaining an NVQ Level 2 and 3 for installation of pipe work, gas welding & arc welding. He achieved ACS accreditation at Trafford College.

He then worked with Sulzer Infra working on numerous large scale projects, these included:-

Civil Justice Centre, Manchester

This three year project involved the installation of the gas system and complete heating & chilled water system in the 17 storey building. He also worked on the installation of the air conditioning system and also installed the toilets, cubicles & hand wash basins.

Trafford Hospital renovation

Installed showers, toilets & bathrooms.

Halifax Hospital

Installed the steel piped air conditioning system and the plastic waste pipe system.

Manchester University

Installed the radiator system and the rainwater and waste pipe work.

Middlebrook Retail Park, Horwich

installation of the 10” gas main for the retail park.

SPD Heating Services – Domestic Plumbing & Heating

Stewart established SPD Heating Services in January 2007.

He benefits from very solid training and experience in industrial plumbing & heating work and now enjoys the personal effect he can apply to his work for domestic customers.

Says Stewart “I see more to my job than simply installing plumbing and heating systems that work. I listen to what the customers like in their house and in some cases I can make suggestions that will improve the finished effect.

An example was a house in Moston with a large bay window. The customer wanted to maximise the effect of this window. I had the 2.2m x 600mm radiator bent to the shape of the bay window and finished it off as a feature with chrome pipe work – the effect is very special (and the customer is quite happy too!)”
